Registered dietitians who work as clinical dietitians work in hospitals with patients. They are able to work in pediatric and adult care hospitals and can even continue to specialize. They spend their days interviewing patients regarding their previous diets, current diets, and counseling on their future nutrition habits to promote health. Clinical Dietitians are part of healthcare teams that care for premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). In NICU’s clinical dietitians are able to calculate and recommend feedings to help premature babies survive and grow.

Los dietistas registrados son aquellos que trabajan como dietistas clínicos en hospitales con pacientes. Ellos pueden trabajar en el cuidado de pacientes pediátricos o adultos en hospitales y continuar con algún tipo de especialización. Su trabajo diario es entrevistar pacientes acerca de sus hábitos alimenticios pasados, actuales y dar la ayuda necesaria para establecer una dieta balanceada que promueva hábitos alimenticios saludables para el futuro. Los Dietistas Clínicos forman parte del equipo de cuidados para bebés prematuros en la Unidad de Cuidad Intensiva de Neonatos. En esta unidad los dietistas clinicas pueden calcular y recomendar el tipo de alimentación para el exitoso crecimiento y maduración de bebés prematuros.
